Meet Your Body's Needs

Traveling. It is one of life's most exciting adventures. Experiencing another culture, country, or even just the town over leaves us with lasting memories. In all the excitement of seeing another part of the world, it is easy to forget to make your health a priority.

During any trip, you want to be in your best physical condition so you can get the most out of your experience. We've put together some simple tips to help you keep your health a priority, no matter where you travel.

Stretching. If a plane is your method of transportation, make sure you get up and walk up and down the aisles. Some airplanes even have a small area where you will be able to stretch. If you are traveling by car, try to stop every few hours to get out of the car and stretch. This is also a great opportunity to get a breath of fresh air, enjoy the scenery, and take some pictures.

Hydration. Regularly drinking water is one of the easiest tricks in the book. In order for your body to work properly, be sure it is getting the water it needs.

Lifting heavy suitcases. Whether you're lugging your bag across the airport or loading up the car, make sure you lift with the strength of your legs and not with your back.

Neck support. Today's market offers countless options for travel pillows that are supportive and comfortable. Find one that is the best fit for you, and make sure your neck is in it optimal position.

Back support. Long days of travel can take a toll on your back. Use a small towel or article of clothing, roll it up, and place it behind your lower back to give it the support your seat might not have.

Sleeping. Make an effort to sleep on your side, not on your stomach. After you wake up, a nice long stretch can make a huge difference in how you feel.

Exercises. When you're feeling tight from so much traveling, try rolling your shoulders and ankles. This will make your blood circulate to those areas that feel cramped up.

Your body was built to move, so meet its needs whether you're away or at home.
